Paternale antizipation
WebThe diagnosis of HD is based on family history, characteristic clinical findings, and the detection of an expansion of a CAG polyglutamine tract in the Huntingtin gene. Juvenile HD is characterized by paternal anticipation and large CAG expansions that may be missed using routine molecular analysis. WebTrinucleotide repeat disorders exhibit a phenomenon known as anticipation. The triplet repeat mutation is unstable and can expand between subsequent generations. In general, a larger expansion causes a more severe form of the disease. This means that these conditions become more severe in successive generations of the same family.

WebAug 1, 1995 · This may be a clue to a possible mechanism for the molecular basis of paternal anticipation of the disease. The SCA1 gene was transcribed from both wild and mutated alleles in muscles of affected individuals, but the repeat length was the same for both the muscle cDNA and the lymphocyte genomic DNA.
